What Is Our Mission?
We Work to Understand Your Kids Needs
Our mission is to introduce children to new ideas and challenges, allowing creativity and self expression. We try to address each child’s individual interests through a wide variety of activities and play, appropriate to their developmental needs, in a loving and nurturing environment.
We also strive to create a sense of “family” or “belonging” for children, parents and our early childhood educators (staff) alike.

What's special about Kidz In The Park?
Why, Where, & What
-
Why Choose Us
We provide a safe and nurturing environment for children. Each class is set up to assist children with their individual needs, based on their skill level and age. We plan and implement fun-filled learning activities that enhance a child’s will to learn and explore different developmental areas.
-
What We Do
Kidz In The Park believes in creative learning. We believe that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, we would be forever repeating the same pattern. Kidz In The Park helps them set the foundation for creativity by encouraging all different types of play. Come and check us out today!
-
Where We Are
Kidz In The Park is a licensed childcare centre located in Sherwood Park. We focus on a strong academic & social foundation so children not only meet, but surpass all their developmental milestones. We spend our time meeting children’s emotional needs by filling their cup with love and care.
Prepare your child for all of life's milestones
Feel The Difference
What gives our centre the quality you feel the moment you enter are the “pillars” of belief that supports us. There are four core beliefs on which everything centers at our centre.
-
Experiential Learning
We help children connect with their surroundings in new ways, so they discover what is meaningful to them in the moment and in the future.
-
Community
A child’s success in large part depends on families, educators, peers and relevant members of the community.
-
Collaboration
Sharing new experiences and solving problems with others leads to a greater sense of connectedness – as well as meaningful learning experiences.
-
Play-Based Learning
We believe all that a child needs to learn can be taught through play! Our staff create activities that are fun and educational.

Jennifer Lastiwka
Director
I am the Director of Kidz in the Park and also the OSC teacher. I graduated with my Bachelor of Elementary Education in 2019, and also hold my Child Development Supervisor certificate. I have been working at the center since 2016, and recently took over the position of Director. I am so excited to continue to help children, parents, and staff in any way I can. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, and hope to go to Jordan and Egypt for a postponed honeymoon as soon as possible. I also enjoy spending time with my dog Cal and cat Julep. My goals for the future of Kidz in the Park include implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children of all ages to help them grow into fun-loving, creative, and caring individuals.

Eagles - Out of School Care
I realized early in life that I love working with children and that there wasn’t anything else I could imagine doing. After graduating high school I then chose to pursue a Diploma as a Child Development Supervisor. I graduated college with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I am very grateful to be a member of Kidz in the Park, so I can be a part of molding a good foundation in children’s lives. To add to my joy (and parenting experience), I have two children, who are the light of my life.

Mary-Lynne Papstratis
Pandas - Kinders
I have been working with children in early education for almost 25 years. I am a certified child development worker. I also have my diploma as an educational assistant. I love hanging out with my family and my dogs. We love fishing, camping and being outside.
I love my job hearing children laugh and helping them learn new fun things daily is amazing.

Ladybugs - Pre-School
I have been working in childcare for over 10 years, and possess a level 1 certificate in child care. I really enjoy the energy young children bring into your life; keeping you constantly on your toes and making you stay creative. I can’t imagine anything better than being able to provide children with a safe and exciting beginning; and I plan on doing it for quite some time. I have two boys of my own and enjoy helping out with my son’s football league.

Gwen Shepherd
Ladybugs - Pre-School
I’m a mother of three grown children, grandmother of two beautiful girls. I have a Child Development Supervisor certificate and have been working at KITP for 13 years. My goals with the children include helping them explore the world around them and also teaching them the social skills they need to develop in order to succeed. I now take great pleasure helping to provide a safe, stable and caring place for the children. My hobbies are sewing, reading and the great outdoors.

Monkeys - Toddlers
I work in the toddler room at Kidz in the Park Daycare Centre. I have been working in childcare since 2013, and enjoy every moment working with the kids and the staff. I graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have my level 2 as a Child Development Worker. My goal is to help children to learn, grow healthy and socialize well with other kids. My hobbies are: reading books with the babies, singing a song, and being outdoor.

Teddy Bears - Infants
I work in the baby room at Kidz in the Park Daycare Centre and I love it. I obtained a level 2 certificate in ECE because nothing brings me more joy than being around babies in all stages of development, watching them learn to interact with the world and helping to give them a solid foundation to take forward in their lives. Babies are just fun to be around, teach and watch them grow. My hobbies are camping, picnics and walking in the park.

Margie Grant
Cook
I am the daycare cook. I do have my level 1 child care certificate. I have lived in Sherwood Park for 17 years. Since moving here my family has been involved in competitive swimming as all three of my children swim. My hobbies are reading and gardening. I enjoy camping and watching sports. I look forward to getting to know all the kids.
